TextStatistics for Management and Economics (abbreviated 7th edition) by G. Keller.

Calculator:  You will need a calculator for this course, but it need not be one with built-in statistics functions. (We will use Excel for statistical calculations.) You are responsible for knowing how to operate your own calculator.

Homework:  Homework is due most weeknights at 11pm, and will be submitted through the online WeBWorK system. Specific homework deadlines are given in the Course Schedule. There are 13 homework assignments, with the top 11 counting toward your final course grade.  No extensions on homework will be granted.

There will be ample time during class and office hours to ask homework questions. Please do not send homework questions by email. I cannot give good, thorough, timely responses to such questions.

Exams:  There will be two multiple choice in-class exams, on Monday July 21 and Monday, July 28. These exams will be given in MEC 215, a computer classroom in the Mechanical Engineering building. (See the Course Schedule for exam content information.) No make-up exams will be given for missed exams. However, there is a provision for dropping the lowest exam score. (See Course Grade below.)

If you require special exam accommodations as certified by the LNEC, please see me at least three days prior to the exam so that proper arrangements can be made.

Final Exam:  There will be a comprehensive multiple choice final exam on Monday, August 4, 2008, 10:30-12:45pm in MEC 215.

Course Grade:  Your course grade is based on your scores on homework, quizzes, and the final.  There are two formulas for combining these scores into course averages:

          Formula 1:     Homework = 15%, Exams = 25% each,  Final = 35%
          Formula 2:     Homework = 15%, Highest Exam = 35%,  Final = 50%

The larger of the two course averages will be used to determine your final course grade.
